Thortful.com teamed up with one of the UK's most loved drag queens, Divina De Campo, who has offered her top tips on putting on an amazing karaoke performance.

Don't be nervous – you're not there to be a West-End-Wendy!
"Remember that everyone in the room wants you to do well, and you're all there to just have a good time! You're not there to be a West-End-Wendy."

Remember – WWADQD?
"What would a Drag Queen do? She'd put her shoulders back, tip her head up, and GO for it! The more you use your body language, the more you'll relax into it. There's been plenty of girls on Drag Race who can't sing for toffee, and they put on a great show!"

Body language
"While you're singing, put your hands in the air, stamp your feet, and jump around! The crowd will love that you're having the best time, and it'll make them have a great time too. Have fun with it!"

Make the audience love you by loving them first
"While you're performing, listen to what the crowd are doing and respond. If they sing some backing vocals for you, point the mic out to them and get them involved! Make the audience love you by loving them first."

ALWAYS pick a song you like, and know well
"Even if the lyrics are on a screen with you, you'll feel more confident picking a song you love and know well. You'll be able to perform better if you know what words are coming next!"

Commenting, Becky Daniels, Senior Brand Manager at thortful, says: "Even if you're not the world's greatest singer, karaoke has long since been a popular party choice for weddings, hen do's, stag do's, and more. It's a chance for all generations to come together and enjoy their favourite songs from times gone by."

Married to your surname? 26% of women are planning on keeping theirs

Lots of people are ditching traditions when it comes to modern weddings and marriage - one of which quickly losing favour is the tradition of taking your partner's surname. In a recent survey carried out by Pandora UK, almost nine in ten (88%) women said they think that attitudes to married names are changing in 2026 ¹. When asked, over a quarter (26%) of unmarried women said they'd keep their last name if they got married, whilst less than half (45%) said they'd take their partner's name. This is indicative of the shift in opinion in recent years, as when married women were asked, only a sixth (17%) of women said they kept their maiden names when they got married, whilst the majority (78%) took their partner's surname, with just 4% choosing to double-barrel their last name with their significant other.
