The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa Celebrates Unhurried Luxury with Extended Stays & Unique Experiences
With the growing popularity of the slow travel...
We recently chatted to Chippenham based bridal designer Brooke Curling of By Brooke, who took us behind the seams of creating a bespoke bridal gown. If you can't find what your'e looking in currently boutique collections, the bespoke route is one we'd highly recommend. Read on to find out more.
What's your favourite gown in store at the moment?
My favourite gown at the moment is Cici by British designer Sassi Holford. I maybe a bit biased as I worked for this incredible designer, but her attention to detail is next level and her team of pattern cutters and seamstresses are incredibly skilled.
Her collections are well thought out and each piece although modern, are timeless and elegant.
Can you tell us more about brides can go bespoke for their dream dress?
Starting with a consultation we'd discuss your ideas, fabric options and take your measurements. We look at your whole wedding and how you feel your dress will perfectly fit your style, personality and wedding party - you want to look back at photos and know you made the right decision for you.
Next, I'd pattern cut your style and create a toile which is a mock up of the dress to your measurements. This stage is crucial to get the perfect fit but is quite fun to watch the magic of a 2D sketch become a beautiful dress!
As a bride you can see how it’s all created and formed perfectly to your body, making those changes as the appointment runs which can be small but impactful to compliment your body.
From this the pattern would be altered ready for the next steps.
The final stages are creating the dress in its true fabrics, tweaking as it’s being fitted and putting together those finishing touches. It’s a beautiful moment seeing the hard work and creativity of creating a bespoke piece come together and be worn with happiness and pride by a bride knowing it’s their own design!
