Hotel Indigo Bath has recently been celebrating having been awarded its prestigious Green Key Accreditation reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible tourism.
Green Key is an international eco-label for tourism facilities, leading excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable operations within the tourism industry since 1994. This programme is globally recognised for its stringent standards and is managed internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education, and in England, by the esteemed environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy. More than 6,000 hotels and other establishments in 70+ countries are Green Key certified. Through rigorous documentation and frequent on-site audits, Green Key ensures that establishments maintain high environmental standards and continuously strive for improvement.
A ‘Green Team’ was set up by the staff at Hotel Indigo Bath in 2024 and achieving the Green Key accreditation is just the start of the continued work to improve the hotel’s sustainability. The team are there to identify and implement a range of eco-friendly practices throughout the business.
Gemma Orford, Operations Manager of Hotel Indigo Bath, said: “We’re delighted to have been accredited with the Green Key which aligns perfectly with our values at Hotel Indigo Bath. We believe in not just providing exceptional service to our guests, but also in doing so in a way that minimises our impact on the environment. I’m very proud of the team who are passionate about sustainability. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the environment and create a brighter future for generations to come.”
The Green Key accreditation signals to guests that Hotel Indigo Bath is dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of their stay and Gemma added: “This is the first step in not only reducing our carbon footprint but also encouraging our guests to make more sustainable choices during their stay.
