Crafts Weekend returns to Chedworth Roman Villa
Step back into Roman Britain at Chedworth Roman Villa in the Cotswolds during the unmissable Roman...
A couple with a combined age of 161 proved that love has no age limit when they married at St Michael’s Church in Winterbourne recently.
The bride, Diane, is 82 years old, whilst her groom Mike is 79. They met through their mutual love of square dancing (Mike is a much sought-after caller) and naturally their hobby was the theme of their evening reception. Mike’s other hobby played a part in the ceremony, as the choir of which he is a member sang at the service.
Diane arrived at the church in a classic Daimler Limousine, accompanied by four members of her family. After a quick photo stop at the local duck pond, she arrived fashionably late (only five minutes!), with a graceful exit from the vehicle courtesy of an aerobic step which had been purchased by the Daimler’s owners for the purpose. The couple also travelled to their reception in the limousine, which featured a customised number plate bearing their names and the date of their wedding, ideal for photographs and a lovely souvenir of the day.
The Daimler was provided by Ian Walker of Arriving in Style, who during the planning of the wedding became such a friend of the couple that he was invited to the wedding. He said, “I was honoured to be asked to be a part of Diane and Mike’s special day. Our Daimler, Mabel, is a wonderful vehicle for these type of celebrations, being a classic model herself. Diane and Mike’s wedding was a day full of smiles and happy memories, and I wish them many happy years together.”
